The Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences in Mombasa is the youngest of the schools of the University of Nairobi established in 2015. We offer three main programs: A diploma in Criminology and Social Order, a Bachelor’s degree in Arts with specialisations in Psychology, Sociology, Communication and Political Science; and a Master of Psychology in Community Psychology.
Our aim is two-fold: to produce all-rounded graduates responsive to changing global trends; and respond to the social science needs of the region. We have set out to achieve the objectives by exposing our students to qualified faculty and providing necessary academic support. Our undergraduate students major in two broad areas at third year that open many opportunities for them going forward. Further, we engage local communities and institutions in mapping emerging issues and designing solutions as a powerful way of making learning practical. For instance, we participate in mentorship programs for high school students.
